Welcome to the Strixa documentation. Here you'll find everything you need to get started with capturing and reviewing browser activity.
Installation
From Chrome Web Store
- Visit the Chrome Web Store page for Strixa
- Click "Add to Chrome"
- Click "Add Extension" in the confirmation dialog
- The extension icon will appear in your toolbar
Manual Installation (Developer Mode)
- Download the extension files
- Open Chrome and navigate to
chrome://extensions/ - Enable "Developer mode" in the top right
- Click "Load unpacked"
- Select the extension folder
Recording Sessions
Starting a Recording
- Click the Strixa icon in your Chrome toolbar
- Toggle the "Recording" switch to ON
- The extension will now capture all your browser activity
What Gets Recorded
- Page navigations and URL changes
- Click events with element details
- Text input (excluding passwords)
- Tab switches and window events
- Screenshots at key moments
Reviewing Sessions
Using the Reviewer
- Click the Strixa icon
- Click "Reviewer Mode" button
- Browse through recorded sessions in the timeline
- Click any action to view details and screenshots
Search and Filter
Use the search bar to find specific actions by:
- URL or page title
- Action type (click, input, navigation)
- Content text
- Timestamp
Exporting Data
Export Formats
Strixa supports multiple export formats:
JSON
Raw data format suitable for further processing or integration with other tools.
HTML Report
A formatted report with screenshots and action details, suitable for sharing or documentation.
Images
Export all screenshots as a ZIP file of PNG images.
Split Export
For large sessions, use the Split Export feature to divide the data into smaller files.

Troubleshooting
Extension Not Recording
- Check if recording is enabled (toggle switch in popup)
- Reload the page you're trying to record
- Try refreshing the extension:
chrome://extensions/ → Developer mode → Reload
Screenshots Not Capturing
Some pages cannot be captured due to browser security restrictions:
- Chrome Web Store pages
- Browser settings pages (
chrome://) - Some banking and secure sites
Storage Issues
If you're running out of storage space:
- Export and backup old sessions
- Delete unnecessary recordings
- Consider upgrading for unlimited storage
